Dr. Beth Lennox completed her Bachelor of Science in 1991, and continued at the University of Waterloo, obtaining her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1995. Dr. Lennox graduated on the Dean’s Honour List, receiving the Canadian Contact Lens Society award for her proficiency in the application of contact lenses. Dr. Lennox completed an externship at Houston Eye Associates, where she worked with several retinal and glaucoma specialists. After graduating, Dr. Lennox entered into private practice in Brantford, then moved to the Cambridge practice in 1998. She has also been a part-time clinical supervisor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science and is the past chair of the board of directors for Eye Recommend. Dr Lennox received the Mayors award in 2014 for excellence in workforce training and development in the small business category. In 2018, she also was honoured as a Woman of Distinction by the YWCA in the category of business and entrepreneurship.

In her spare time, Dr. Lennox enjoys time with her husband, Peter, and their two sons. She loves travel, yoga, and being a hockey Mom!

Dr. Amanda Brown was raised on a beef farm in the Cambridge area. She attended the University of Waterloo and graduated with Honours with both Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees in 2000. She completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at Vision America in Memphis, Tennessee. That is where she became skilled in treating and managing glaucoma, diabetes, and laser refractive surgery patients.

After graduation, Dr. Brown was pleased to be able to stay in the Cambridge area and join Dr. Lennox at the original Elgin St. location. In 2012, she became a partner in what is now known as Cambridge Eye Care. In addition to seeing patients, she enjoys supervising 4th year externs from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science and planning in-office events. Dr. Brown is also an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, Eye Recommend, and is the treasurer for the Waterloo-Wellington and District Optometric Society. She also enjoys working with local ophthalmologists to ensure that there is sustainable co-managed vision care in the Cambridge area.

Outside of work, you will find Dr. Brown volunteering at the school where her daughter and son attend, at an arena cheering them on, or helping her husband, Steve, on the farm.

Dr. Sarah Schaffels graduated from the University of Waterloo with her Bachelors of Science and Doctor of Optometry in June 2010. She was named to the Dean’s Honours List each term and received the AW Cole Award for Clinical Excellence at graduation. During her studies, Dr Schaffels completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at the John Kenyon American Eye Institute, giving her hands on experience working with 5 ophthalmologist and 2 optometrists, with specialties including cornea, cataracts, refractive surgery, glaucoma, and retina.

Dr. Kaylee Wood grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. She received an Honours Bachelors of Biomedical Science from the University of Waterloo in 2011 and an Honours Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2015. She was awarded the AOF Award of Excellence for Contact Lens Patient Care. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has a special interest in dry eye, pediatrics and contact lenses.

Dr. Wood is passionate about community involvement and is a former president of Volunteer Optometric Services of Ontario and former member of the Cambridge (Preston-Hespeler) Rotary Club. She is the 2013 recipient of the Roland and Margaret des Groseilliers Humanitarian award. Her training included a placement at the Foundation for International Self Help in Kingston, Jamaica and an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. In 2014, she travelled to Peru to provide vision and ocular therapeutic services to people in need.

Outside of the clinic, she can be found exploring her neighbourhood, travelling, and spending time at the cottage with her husband and two young boys.

Dr. Alex Farquhar was born and raised in Midland, Ontario. She received her Honours Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph in 2011 and graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2017. Dr. Farquhar was actively involved in optometry-oriented extracurricular activities during her time as a student, receiving the Canadian Association of Optometrists Award of Merit for her contributions as a student leader. She also received the Dr. Karen Tompa Nowy Memorial Award for her commitment to patient care. One of the highlights of her time as a student was travelling to the Dominican Republic to provide eye care to those in need. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has a special interest in ocular disease and contact lenses.

When she is outside of the clinic, Dr. Farquhar can be found exploring her new home of Waterloo Region with her husband, attempting yoga with her cat, or enjoying time on Georgian Bay with her family.

Dr. April Hall was born in Stephenville, NL and grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. She received her Bachelors of Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2016 and graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2020. She was named to the Dean’s Honours List each term and received the Lyle/Fisher/Bobier award for demonstrating academic excellence and engaging in summer research at the school of Optometry and Vision Science. One of the highlights of her time spent as a student was traveling to Senegal, Africa and Montego Bay, Jamaica to provide eye care to those in need. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has a special interest in ocular disease, dry eye, and contact lenses.

When she is outside of the clinic, Dr. Hall can be found hiking local trails with her fiancé, baking, golfing, and spending time with her family and friends!

Erin is a graduate of the Honours Science program at the University of Waterloo. Originally on track to become an Optometrist, her dream began to evolve when she became an Eyewear Consultant in 2010 and realized how much she loved her job. Erin joined the Cambridge Eye Care team in 2013 and has since completed the Certified Optometric Assistant program as well as a 3-year Optical Sciences Program to become a licensed Optician. Erin specializes in frame selection and fabrication & contact lenses. She keeps up to date with the latest trends and lens designs to ensure that your glasses are both fashionable and functional.

In her spare time, you’ll find Erin and her fiance Chris in their garage working on one of their many car projects or enjoying a pint of beer at one of the many craft microbreweries around Ontario.

Becky joined the Cambridge Eye Care team in February 2017. She is a front receptionist and office coordinator. Becky has 16 years experience working in customer service as well as the beauty industry. In her spare time Becky enjoys crafts and decorating along side spending quality time with her friends and family.

Ashley joined the Cambridge Eye Care team in June 2021. She is a front desk receptionist, and Optometric Assistant. Ashley has over 10 years of customer service experience in the beauty industry and medical clinic setting. Her priority is to bring great energy and enthusiasm with her, ensuring a positive environment for those around her.

In her spare time, Ashley enjoys home decor/projects, as well as spending some quality time with her friends and family.

Joanne has been a member of our team since 2002 and became a Certified Optometric Assistant in the year 2000. She specializes in frame selection & glasses fabrication & contact lens instruction.

Joanne is affectionately known as the “queen of adjustments”. She enjoys helping people get excited about their new glasses & sunglasses and ensures that they are comfortable in their new eyewear.

Joanne spends a lot of her time creating awareness about Optometry Giving Sight–an organization that delivers eye care & glasses to those in need. In her spare time, Joanne loves to dance & really enjoys the blues.

Maralisa has been part of the team at CEC since 2009 and in 2011 completed her CCOA course. With 30 years of experience in both cosmetics and fashion she loves the challenge of finding the perfect frame for you. She believes in the importance in great customer service and has a passion for fashion.

Outside of her time at the office she enjoys spending time outdoors as well as with her husband and 3 children.

Jenn became a member of our team in 2014. She specializes in frame selection & glasses fabrication and will ensure your new glasses are both functional as well as fashionable. Jenn recently completed the CCOA course and is now a Certified Optometric Assistant.

When not at work Jenn keeps busy with her two young children and their busy schedules. Jenn enjoys spending time with her family and loves Football Sundays!

Nancy has been a member of our team in 2014. She specializes in frame selection & glasses fabrication and will ensure your new glasses are both functional as well as fashionable.

In Nancy’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family playing the guitar and Muay Thai kick boxing.

Cheryl joined our team in 2016. She is a Front Receptionist and Office Coordinator, and will always greet you with her warm infectious smile. Cheryl has over 20 years experience in the beauty, retail and customer service industry, and understands the importance of great customer service and making people feel good about themselves.

In her spare time, Cheryl loves hanging out with her family and her dog. She is an avid nature lover and also loves to cook and bake.

Trena is one of our newest team members who joined us in December 2017. She is a front receptionist and office coordinator, who brings with her over 25 years of customer service experience within the airline, restaurant and retail industry. Trena is a busy mom of 3 who enjoys hiking, cycling and spending time with family.

Natasha joined us in November 2020 and greets everyone with a friendly hello and big smile. Natasha has spent many years working in retail, customer service, and volunteering at local schools. In her spare time, Natasha likes to crochet and do puzzles. Natasha enjoys spending time with her husband, teenage daughter, and a house full of pets including three cats and a dog whom she adores.

Rachel joined our team in April 2021. She has many years of experience in both the healthcare and customer service industries and is excited to expand her horizons as she studies to become a Certified Optometric Assistant.

In her spare time Rachel enjoys spending time with her two young children and daily walks with her dog, Seymour

Stephanie graduated with highest distinction from McMaster University in 2021 with an Honours Bachelor of Science in biology. She joined Cambridge Eye Care as a summer student in June 2020 working in both the lab and with the front reception team. She has over 5 years of customer service and retail experience and became interested in pursuing a career in the field of optometry while working and job shadowing at various optometrists’ clinics (including Cambridge Eye Care!) during her undergrad.
Stephanie volunteers weekly as a vision mate with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind to support blind and low vision clients in Kitchener-Waterloo and Hamilton. She likes to spend her spare time enjoying the outdoors with her friends and family.

Christine joined our team in 2022. She is a Front Receptionist and Office Coordinator, and will always greet you with a warm smile & friendly hello. Christine has many years of experience as a PSW and understands the importance of personalized patient care.

When Christine is not at work, she enjoys tending to her gardens & spending time with her husband & two boys.

Pam joined our practice in 2000, and she is our front desk Office Coordinator. She became certified as a CCOA in 2001. Her caring voice and inquisitive nature will ask all the right questions when you call in to schedule your appointment. Her friendly smile will welcome you when you arrive at our office, and her infectious laugh will make you realize you chose the right people to give you the best eye care experience in Cambridge. She’ll help to co-ordinate your specialist referral, answer insurance concerns, and she always loves to give her opinion on your frame selection.

Enza has been a member of our team since 2000. As our lab co-ordinator and purchaser, she meets with our eyewear suppliers regularly to ensure that our eyewear gallery contains a wide selection of fashionable and trending designs. Talk to Enza if you have any questions about what’s new in eyewear.
